FLAVOUR PATH
Your first smoky whisky
Start with a campfire, not a burning hospital corridor.
Peat smoke is not one flavour. It can feel floral, maritime, earthy, medicinal or intensely ashy. Begin with structure and sweetness still visible underneath.
Step one: gentle smoke
Start with a blend such as Johnnie Walker Black Label or a lightly peated malt. The goal is to notice smoke without losing the fruit and vanilla.
Step two: coastal smoke
Talisker 10 adds sea salt and black pepper. It is clearly smoky but remains malt-led and sweet enough to orient a beginner.

Ardbeg 10 is the deliberate leap. Citrus and sweetness are present, but the peat is no longer background decoration.
